Hewes House was formed by a group of tutors with more than 50 years combined experience helping students. We offer personalized academic and admissions tutoring that forefronts rapport while delivering results.
No matter the subject, our tutors enable your students achieve their potential.
For more than 15 years, I’ve worked with students at the most competitive schools in New York City and California. Together, we’ve mastered challenging coursework, navigated learning differences, and gained admission to elite colleges like Yale, Stanford, and St. Andrews.
I’ve learned that academic excellence starts with rapport. Before tackling Latin declensions or SAT strategies, we build a relationship where students feel safe and seen. Whether meeting in person or working virtually, I become a trusted advisor for my students and their families; not just an expert in the material, but someone who understands how your kid learns best.
Hewes House tutors share the same student-focused ethos, but specialize in different subject matters. After our consultation call, you will be matched with the tutor who best suits your student’s needs.
Testimonials
“I’ve had an excellent experience with Hewes House. My high school daughter has worked with her coach for multiple years on creative writing. Not only has the coach improved my daughter’s writing but she’s instilled a love of writing and creating stories. The coach has been wonderful in establishing a rapport with my daughter and motivating her to write. I appreciate the time and effort the coach has invested in tailoring the coaching to fit her needs and interests. A valuable coaching experience!”

“Working with Hewes House has literally been life-changing. My sessions with her are an indispensable context-giver to not only my work, but who I am. I’ve been able to find more direction, apply to more things, and feel more confident in my writing (and art!).”

“Hewes House offers a rare blend of knowledge, wit, resourcefulness, flexibility, and exigence. We came asking if they could teach my reticent 8th grader “to write.” With this nebulous instruction they have – somehow – created a year’s instruction covering not just how to write and revise, but how to read, ponder, research, think, plan, and surge forth into new and intimidating territory, whatever that may be. Five stars!”

“Thank you Hewes House for all your help and ongoing support for our two children, currently in middle school. It’s been a huge success having you work closely with both of the children, and we are seeing the results in their school grades. In addition to the regular sessions, we had our coach work with our son on high school testing prep, which also contributed to amazing results. Thank you for all that you do, we appreciate it!”
